In Loving Memory
Fr. Mychal Judge, Capt. Paddy Brown and all the brothers and sisters.....

The Minstrel Boy to the war is gone

In the ranks of death you will find him

His father's sword he hath girded on

And his wild harp slung behind him

Land of Song! said the warrior bard

Tho' all the world betrays thee

One sword, at least, thy rights shall guard

One faithful harp shall praise thee!

The Minstrel fell! But the foeman's chain

Could not bring that proud soul under

The harp he lov'd ne'er spoke again

For he tore its chords asunder

And said "No chains shall sully thee

Thou soul of love and brav'ry!

Thy songs were made for the pure and free,

They shall never sound in slavery!

1. My dear PaddyBlueEyes...
How beautiful and moving this is...

It makes me tear up and shiver with its beauty.

Thank you for posting it tonight, sweetie...

I wish I could really help your pain...

Oh Danny Boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountainside.
The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying.
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.

But come ye (or yah) back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow,
'Tis I'll be there in sunshine or in shadow.
Oh Danny Boy, Oh Danny Boy, I love you so.

But if ye come, and all the flowers are dying
And I am dead, as dead I well may be.
Ye'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me.

And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me,
And all my dreams will warmer, sweeter be,
And you'll not fail to tell me that you love me,
I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me.

14. Hi paddy
I hope your memories are good ones.....

My local paper The Herald News has a WONDERFUL article about a memorial ceremony at Fr. Mikes grave, only a town away from me.....
It says people that never met him went because they heard his story and were compelled to pay tribute.....
Just thought you might want to know that...

did you know him?? It looks like he has a bit of mischief in his eyes.... (smile)\
