Student bloopers du jour
So I've been grading papers tonight, and out of 47 only managed a few keepers. The assignment was to write one whole page (this is a freshpeople class) on a historical figure that influenced our field. (I omitted the one that described a professor in our department, who I am pretty sure would rather not be considered "historical.")

  • It is because these qualities and characteristics that I believe that Gifford Pinchot should be recognized for the role he played in the development of the recreation that I and my fellow countrymen enjoy so frivolously.

  • Pinchot is a well-known name to many people or students and is a very famous figure in the history of Recreation of Parks and Tourism in the United States of America.

  • I think that has been an important role on the environment because in his reading he writes about how the environment is so beautiful describing it in great detail and as I read this I thought about being outdoors and how the woods, stars, etc really are so beautiful and how I should pay more attention to what I’m doing or not doing to better help the environment.

  • {Stephen Mather} used his passion for conservationism along with Robert Sterling Yard to embark on a campaign for the creation of a federal agency to manage national parks.

Only 4/47. This is much better than last year, when I got thrown out of a local coffee shop because I was laughing so hard grading finals.
