I've honestly never watched it through, but it was one of those "gotta check it off the list must-see flicks" of a lifetime. I have free HBO and Cinemax this weekend (yeah, 20 more stations of crap) and I just watched in start to finish.

Brilliant.

1. Dude, that movie's like twelve years old.
Congrats on being even more behind on pop culture than me.

PS. When you get to 1997, Bruce Willis is dead. Only the kid sees him.

4. I can get away with these things because he loves my boobies.

Also, since everybody knows that's Peggy's favorite, I knew he'd be getting a serious response.

3. My dear flvegan!
I could not agree more!

I just love love love that movie!

Great performances, and what a script!

It's taken from the novella by Stephen King, of all people...

"Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption."

A great story!

Brilliant, indeed.

The ending never fails to move me to tears, never...

9. I kinda figured on first viewing that he'd escape

The sheer magnitude of the legal, moral and financial beatdown he gives the warden, however, is a thing of purest beauty, though. I expected Dufresne would 'win' in the end, but not to the extent that he did.

10. And have you seen "The Green Mile?"
That is an incredible movie as well. It has possibly not just one...but two of the most repulsive villains in the history of filmdom.

And Shawshank Redemption follows the book almosty exactly. +1 on The Green Mile.

18. There's something about Frank Darabont's style that bugs me
I prefer Cronenberg (The Dead Zone) or even Rob Reiner (Stand By Me) when it comes to King adaptations.

20. Yes
I agree. Excellent movie loved Morgan Freeman as the story teller. The sewer pipe scene still makes me cringe even after watching the film for the 20th time!:puke:
