My D&D campaign turned 1 year old this past Friday (that's Dungeons & Dragons)
I'm still continuing with version 3.5 of D&D. We've played mostly every other week, though we've missed a few weeks and played on back-to-back Fridays a few times to make up the missed weeks.

The players just hit Level 8 and are in the midst of the D&D version of Tortuga or Mos Eisley - a wretched hive of scum & villainy.

But, it's nice to gaming regularly for the first time this century!

6. That's rockin'. Using 3.5 rules even!
I've run (or played in) too many campaigns to remember over the past quarter century. It's a load of fun, IMHO.

7. Thanks
I haven't really been involved in a long-term campaign since 98-99... and, haven't DM'd a long-term campaign since the early 90s.

8. Do you have an opinion on the new rules yet?
I haven't played with them. I started on the original D&D, then moved on to 1st Edition AD&D, and then played a tiny bit in AD&D 2nd Edition. I've heard they're a bit of a change but somewhat easier to run.

9. To be honest
I bought the 4E books as soon as they came out, but have barely looked at them - when I have free time for D&D, I tend to spend it prepping for my current campaign - 3.5 is sometimes tough to prep for because it does take a little while building a good bad guy - feats, skills, powers, etc - when my evil 11th level mage had 6 rounds to prepare for the PCs, which spells does he cast and how does that change all of his abilities (stoneskin, globe of invulnerability, summon monster 6, etc) - but, what if he had only 2 rounds, or none, or 10?

And we might very well hit 8th level that night too. :-) I'm going to buy a bottle of sparkling wine so we can have a toast.

We play Eberron, 3.5.

I love it. It's one of the highlights of my week, and I consider my group, who were strangers to me when we started playing, to be good friends now.

Cheers to you and your group! Yay for geeky clean fun! :toast:

14. A few online forums
Wizards of the Coast has a player registry (www.wizards.com), and www.enworld.org has a "gamers seeking gamers" forum. I believe RPG.net also has a similar forum, but enworld is more geared towards D&D.

I can't give you direct links because the sites are blocked at my work.

There is also a Pen & Paper RPG site that is very good, and sends you emails whenever anybody in your area signs up to their service. I think it is something like penandpapergames.com
