Poll question: Who will win the Super Bowl? (Bookmark this one for further discussion)
I wanted to list every team, but I only get ten choices - so I listed the nine teams I remember as mentioned most often in national publications and listed the tenth choice for those who have other ideas.

Before anyone asks or comments, my omission of the Giants is intentional. They have less of a chance of repeating, in my view, than the 2006 St. Louis Cardinals did in MLB. Beating a punchless Redskins team by only nine tonight didn't earn the Jints a spot on my poll.

My choice: Jacksonville. Call it a hunch, which is really all it is, but I really believe the house of cards in the AFC playoffs will fall their way just as it did for Indy a couple of years ago when New England saved the Colts from having to play the AFC championship in San Diego.

(Then again, please remember that this poll was created by a guy who thinks football begins and ends with the CFL's Montreal Alouettes. :) )

2. I don't think it'd be that much of a shock.
If the Pats go 16-0 again, Philly sneaks in at 9-7, makes it to the Super Bowl and simply manages to win that one game, I wouldn't be shocked - but the media would once again treat the game like it was the Jets-Colts in '69. I personally think the Eagles will go 11-5 or 12-4, with most of those losses coming from Dallas and the Giants. As for whether they'll make it as far as the Super Bowl, I have no clue - last year was proof that forecasting the pathetic NFC is not my strong point. I thought Dallas was a lock.

This year, any one of a half dozen teams or even more have a chance to go to the final in the NFC, even the Panthers.

3. It wouldn't be as big a shock as the aforementioned Jets-Colts game.
And, in fact I agree with you, the NFC is wide open. I see the Eagles at 10-6, maybe 11-5 and they will beat Dallas at least once. The AFC is more open than it's been. The Pats may have been playing possum in the pre-season but I doubt it, that defense looks old and slow. While you can't count out Brady and Belichick I think there are a few other teams ready to take the conference away from them. It will be an interesting season.

4. Well, while I have your attention:
A few questions, as I love throwing opinions back and forth:

Which team will be the worst in the league? I say KC, but do I wonder exactly how bad Oakland will be this year.

Which supposed contender will be the biggest disappointment? I say the Jets if you consider Favre's addition enough to make them a disappointment, the Broncos if you don't. If neither team strikes you as a contender, I'll say the Giants, who have to be named as such as they do hold the title.

Any playoff darkhorses on your mind? The closest I have is the Titans, but they did get in last year and as such I'm not sure I can call them a darkhorse candidate. I am NOT on Arizona's bandwagon.

Your opinion as to how long it will take for the Bills to move to Toronto? I say the deal will be closed within a month after Ralph Wilson dies.

Lastly, because we just had a big argument about this in my office: Your over / under on wins for the Rams this year? I say five is reasonable and that they manage to pull off six if they stay healthy.

Cheers,

Zavulon

5. KC does seem to be the dregs this year.
But Miami, St. Louis and San Fran will vie for the worst team title.

I think Dallas will once again disappoint in the playoffs after a great regular season and probable division title. The Giants I think will take a step back.

Darkhorses.....hmmm. I don't really have any. Arizona is supposed to "take the next step" every year, so I agree with you on that. I have no confidence in them at all.

I think the Bills move to Toronto within the next 4 years. It makes sense for the NFL. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with European teams in the future.

Wins for the Rams? Certainly no higher than 7. 7 wins would be a great year for them. They have good players but they need to re-enforce too many positions to be a darkhorse darkhorse. Heh.

20. I have a feeling Miami is going to surprise this year.
Not make the playoffs, mind you, but they'll probably have twice the wins KC does this year. Pennington may not have a cannon, but he's healthy and has an offensive coordinator he's already familiar with.

I hope you're right about Dallas. I hate the team to begin with, but now that they've actually given a job to a piece of shit like Pacman I hope nothing but the worst for them.

18. The Eagles are going to be in a race for last place in the
NFC east all season with the Redskins. I doubt they do better than 8-8.

7. Gee I wonder who picked the Cowboys?
Of course if that was Madinmaryland he would have posted one of his obnoxious pictures.
I picked the Colts-although maybe the Chargers are the more talented team..I just don't have faith in Norv Turner as a coach after his tenure in Washington.

16. Well Romo seems easy enough to distract.
TZ - I say we find a decoy of the blonde female persuasion when the Cowgirls head up here to Philly. You, me and LynneSin could pool our "stimulus package" funds together and pay her to flash/"stimulate" Romo. We'll seat her in the endzone.

Sound like a plan? :hi:
