NASCAR Fans: Sell me
I have a lot of Dem friends who are seriously into it (and WWE and other 'rasslin) And while I can see what's fun about 'rasslin (women and men hitting each other - what's not to like?) I just don't get NASCAR.

I'm guessing that I'm just missing something here - so NASCAR fans out there, sell me on it.

1. cant resist...
..this one..I raced USAC midgets with NASCAR drivers Ken Schrader, John Andretti, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, kenny Irwin, over the years. Bunch of egomanics- cant stand to even watch a race anymore...Politically, these drivers are extremely conservative havent a clue about anything outside their world of racing......Racing is its own Darwinian pursuit..

3. I Didn't Really Get Into NASCAR
until I bought NASCAR racing for the PC back in the early nineties. Gave me a good feel for the strategy and mechanics of the sport. Then I went to a Cup race that summer and got to hear and feel it. We camped on the infield for the whole race weekend and I'll tell ya, there is nothing like partying with thousands of people and then being awakened from a drunken stupor by the sound of 770 horsepower X 20. I was hooked. It's really good stuff.

4. The most boring "sport" on the face of the planet
My brother is a huge Nascar fan, when he comes to see us and a race is on, he sits for hours watching cars go in circles. It's amusing to watch him get into it. But hey, to each his/her own. Just isn't for me.

5. if it has four wheels
and a steering wheel i`m watching. i grew up going to races and wrenching cars with my dad since i was 8yrs old. to me there`s nothing better than driving down the road listening to a 400 cubic inch pontiac engine running thru cherry bomb mufflers with the tail pipes along side the doors.....i think it gets in your blood. actually, i like open wheel better.

6. What's not to like about rednecks turning left?
...which is the funniest explanation of NASCAR I've seen.

Honestly, I like it too...I'm a car guy, though...usually German sports cars, but I'll settle for anything that goes really fast.

7. Can't be done
No sooner than selling opera to a non-interested music fan.

8. It's way too.................
commercialized and political now. They never fail to wear their politics on their sleeves. I was briefly intrigued back in the fledgling days of NASCAR, you know, just good old boys (moonshiners) seeing who had the fastest cars to outrun the Feds. I wouldn't watch a race now if it was the only thing on the tube on a rainy day.
