18. My step-brother bags an elk every other year or so
He sends it to be processed and gives the meat to my parents. The only time my parents eat at home is Sunday breakfast and when they are entertaining. So I end up having a freezer full of meat. The meat has gotten me through some tough times, and it's GOOD!!!

4. I am so conflicted with hunting at times.
I grew up around it. My dad and brother hunted. They always ate what they killed. I eat meat so I can't say too much, but killing for sport (which happens sooooo much) is yuck.

8. eating what you hunt (assuming you are not hunting extinct animals knowingly)
is imo far more ethical than eating meat from the meat industry.

hunting for sport is morally bankrupt and the sport of a bully

12. I tend to agree with that. I know lots of people who hunt and they
seem to hunt for sport. They do eat it mostly, but it is the thrill of the kill that gets them hunting. I can't imagine aiming at a beautiful animal and pulling the trigger. But like I said, I eat meat so it is hard for me to say much of anything.

I'd tell her the same thing I'm telling you....You don't like abortion don't have one.

You don't like hunting, don't do it. You don't like meat, don't eat it. You don't like fur or skins, don't wear them. I'm sick and fucking tired of moral zealots on the left and right trying to ban things they disapprove of. :nuke:

15. funny, isn't it -
the knee-jerk reaction. my issue is squarely with her premise of *right to life*.

people take off immediately on their right to hunting, bearing arms, etc.

i wish people would actually READ through a statement and answer responsibly.

but - people will be people.

17. holey moley abalone . . .
it is amusing what things really *strike a nerve* -

soaring gas prices seem not to . . .

dismantling the constitution . . . .

impeachable offenses by the President and Vice President . . .

looting the treasury . . .

torture . . .

none of that seems to strike such a nerve as the issue of *guns* and *abortions*.

14. I think you misunderstood the meaning . . .

Kind of incongruous, isn't it?

- in·con·gru·ous·ly adverb
- in·con·gru·ous·ness noun

I won't hold THAT against her as I am not a vegetarian and shooting a Moose is far less barbaric than the way that animals are slaughtered in slaughterhouses in this country or anywhere.

well my engine was jump started and then...

she didn't like the fact that I have a kid

she didn't like this

she didn't like that

and well, no, I'm not.

Looking again :D

Oh, I think she is holier than thou and a rabid evangelical right winger, I just won't go after her for hunting, speaking in tongues, or her keeping her child.

I think her associations with the Alaskan separatists, her lack of experience or credentials, and her far to the right leaning views example: "they want to pull out of this war right before we win" :wtf: is she smoking? win ??? How full of shit is that?

i think its hypocritical of me to say she is doing any thing less humane than i am. hunting your own meat imo is far more ethical than having the meat industry kill it for you.

hunting for sport is shitty

33. It's cheap, and it's usually healthier than commercial food chain meat.
It also is a lot more personal than the commercial food chain. You have to recognize just what eating meat actually means: eating another, specific, living animal. Some people actually prefer that to meat on styrofoam in plastic wrap.

If you are a vegetarian, than obviously one's stance would be against hunting and domestic meat production. But if you eat meat, hunting sure is a lot more honest about what eating meat really is.

31. Yes, how dare she act like humans have through the majority of our history.
Only those who let others kill their food are moral.

Oh, and non-human animals. They're allowed to kill their food, too. Oh, and First People. They can, too. So can aboriginal people across the Earth. I suppose it wasn't wrong when people did it 200 years ago, either.

But modern people of European stock are totally disallowed from killing and preparing their own food.
