500 songs my ass!
I just got a new .mp3 player, a 2 gig one.
(Sylvania.)

Says on the package will hold up to 500 songs.

BULLSHIT!

It only holds 220.

(Granted, not all the songs are 3-4 minutes...) ;-)

1. The magic words are "up to."
You're lucky it holds any songs at all, because zero is also included in "up to."

They probably quoted that capacity based on the lowest bit-rate encoding the machine can handle.

I love that they play that song every Thanksgiving on the rock and roll radio. I hope they'll also show the movie too.

6. Would you believe...
I have both "In A Gadda Da Vita" (full version) and the full version of "Alice's Restaurant" on the mp3 player now?

Yup, I do.

In addition to the full version of "Take Five" and the full 25 minute version of "Tubular Bells."

:-)

4. There are many many factors that
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 08:59 PM by jasonc
influence how many songs will fit onto a certain device...

I do know this for a fact though, and it holds true for ALL of them. It absolutely WILL hold as much DATA as it says it will... IE: 2bgs is what it says, thats what it will hold, minus a small bit.

8. Are you sure it didn't say '500 Song Titles' ?
To actually hold the MP3 files to go along with those titles, you need the 600 giga-byte hard disk option available for a mere $375.
