I think my Dad lied to me..:(
I talked to him over the weekend and while he said he wasn't feeling that great (he has Parkinson's and Diabetes) he kinda played it down I think. My mom told me he had talked to him and he told her that he can't travel out here (he lives 500 miles away in Cincinnati). I didn't know he was that sick..:(
I can't remember the last time I saw him. I guess I should start thinking about going out there to visit him. I know he's starting to get up their in age at 68 and he has certainly gotten frail over the past few years but still, this saddens me and depresses me.

1. It's difficult to watch parents age..
I was really shocked, when I last visited my father, to see how rapidly his health has declined.

2. I hope he's okay.
Parkinsons and Diabetes has to be a very difficult combination. :(

I hope you can visit him soon, and have a reassuring and pleasant trip. :)

3. Symps. My dad can't make the trip out here anymore, either.
So I drive the 500 miles out there about once a month. It's expensive, but I don't want to live with the regret of saying "I'll skip this one time," and having that be the last time. :(

Good luck.

4. I understand. My father is 67 and has diabetes and heart disease
plus he weighs around 400 pounds and can barely walk across the room. It upsets me because he's ill due to lifestyle choices, not genetics-but he refuses to change his ways in the least. I call him every week and visit when I can afford to, but I know what you mean; it's hard. :-(

6. Very hard to watch your parents get old
I live close to my folks (40 miles) and I see them most every weekend. My Dad is 69, Mom 67, and I've really noticed them "slowing down" the past couple of years. Dad has back problems, has had 2 operations for narrowing of the spinal column. Mom has asthma and heart problems (a-fib). I find myself wondering at every holiday/birthday is this the last time we will all be together? Sorry you're going thru this and I wish your Dad the best.
