Who is going to be the first to buy the "Nail" pendant that Mel is selling
Come on...who wants to jab themselves with this baby!

<>

Now this is something straight out of the middle ages... why not sell pieces of the true cross too!

I am one of those Vatican II Catholics and I have to say that I find this piece very offensive.

I am going to see this movie just so I too can join in with the Water Cooler talk but already the previews are just too bloody for me.
Hell my husband almost barfed at the end of Braveheart because he thought it was too bloody...

1. Do they have a glow-in-the-dark one?
I'd go for one of those. How about one with a Star of David on it?

6. I had a light up statue of Mary that my mom would plug in before
I went to bed...it would cast a blue glow throughout my room...

My brother had the Jesus one but broke it...so of course he is damned..

Ah...the memories of making a May Altar...

8. Did they already sell out of the crown of thorns?
Or the flayed skin?

:eyes:

Personally, I always thought the cross itself was kind of morbid, but it also was a reminder of the suffering that one must endure in this world. Sort of a reminder that no matter how bad things look now and how much pain your in, there's someone out there who suffered more. I don't take the Bible as literal; I see Jesus as the penultimate archetype. We all suffer; we all can empathyze with Jesus.

Okay, but this nail thing. That's really morbid. I mean for all this banter about who killed Jesus, no one picks the ultimate culprit. Instead, they wear it around their necks.

The nails killed Jesus. Suck on that, fundies! :P

15. I will not see this film
the previews tie my stomach in knots, I simply do not fare well when faced with graphic violence. I guess I am just a wuss. I'm sort of a Vatican III Catholic anyway. But I would LOVE a Tshirt of Jesus with those eyes that follow you everywhere. What a world, huh? So many Christians will weep at this and then go back to the everyday bashing and slamming of their fellow humans, completely missing the message- and they can wear all the symbols while they are doing it, I 'm pretty sure God is onto them!

20. sorry. I was being funny( or confusing)
I think it is time for vatican III- and the opus dei folks (Gibson, et al, ) think that Vatican II went too far.
