Vegetable curry with raita!!! I love the garden at this time of year. Is anybody else harvesting anything interesting? :hi:

1. My dear crim son!
Oooh, lucky you!

That sounds wonderful!

Alas, I didn't prep the soil properly for my garden this year, and my lonely tomato plant gasped and didn't do well at all...

So I get to admire everyone else's efforts...

Good for you!

3. I'm sorry, Peggy!
Once upon a time I grew about forty tomato plants a year and always had a great crop. Here in the city, this is the first year in seven that I've had good success and I KNOW it's because I went crazy with the fertilizer and then mulched the heck out of everything. I have artichokes in the garden, too, but they aren't ready for harvest!

2. I honestly thought you were describing McCain's Cabinet picks, or something.
Just for a moment. Too much time in GDP, I guess.

I have no use for cukes or zukes, but enjoy! Our tomatoes are nearly played out now, until the Aero Garden is on line.

4. What's an aero garden?
I shred zukes and put them in casseroles, chili, spaghetti or curries. My kids won't eat them any other way. I love 'em grilled! :)

5. Aero Garden may work for illicit plants, but I swear ours is for tomatoes.

7. Wanna share those *tomatoes*?
Wink! Wink!

Kidding. I think I've seen something like that, maybe in the Gardener's Supply catalogue. Cool!

6. Hmmm. I was thinking that was 'code' for something naughty.
:P

How you holding up in Bangor?

Leaves changing colour up there yet? It *is* September after all!

8. Exceedingly curious
what you imagined the tomatoes represented.

I'm doing well although nothing has changed in my world. I was just sitting here, thinking how lucky I am... I haven't noticed any of he big trees changing but some of the bushes are getting red leaves. I refuse to allow frost until my artichokes are ready. How are you?

We've had an expensive month. Two dentists visits plus crazy toddler costs. x(

But, he talks now in full sentences, and it a blast to play with. He's a total show off, extrovert and flirt.

Plus, I'm enjoying my job right now, and I love the fall foods. I can't wait for fresh on the stalk brussel sprouts to start showing up at the farmers market.

Edited to add: You don't want to know what I thought the tomatoes represented. :7

10. Red New Mexico Chiles, Brandy Wine tomatoes, Lettuce.
We have some corn and squash that are little more then sprouts, and hopefully will be ready in late fall. This is the first time me and Ali have tried to grow veggies. Next year I'm trimming back our tree in the back yard and planting a variety of Hopi Blue heirloom corn, heirloom "Cave Beans" and a traditional southwestern squash, variety to be named later.

11. Jealous!
Since I no longer have a greenhouse I don't start my own seedlings. This year I halfheartedly picked up a sixpack of Better Boy plants, but I've grown Brandywine in the past. Gawd those are good! I also envy you your chilis (my son mowed down my yellow banana peppers) and your lettuce!
