I wouldn't let any kid of mine near the "Passion".
When I was a 16 year old in a catholic convent school we had a retreat. I picked a book to read which detailed the passion of Christ minute by minute. It made a huge impression on me but not because of anything spiritual...really, I think, because it was so violent and so graphic.

I have not seen the movie but I have seen some clips on TV. This is the worst kind of violence cloaked in Christian righeousness. There are people taking their young children to this obscene movie...paying the price of admission which, I assume, is going into the pocket of the producer...not going to charity as far as I can tell.

Taking your kid to this movie is a form of child abuse. Yet again...HORRAY FOR HOLLIWOOD!

2. Shoulda seen that abortion propaganda we saw in CCD
It was exactly at that moment that I realized that everything every Catholic had ever told me was wrong.

3. Won't someone think of the children!

I don't think any sane parent should take their kids to this movie..

Altough I don't see how this movie is much worse the other crap released yearly, where kids go without anyone complaining.

It feels like ppl complaining about violence in this movie are the same ppl complaining about conservatives who want less violence in hollywood

6. I guess this movie isn't any worse than
most stuff kids see. To me it's just the mantle of Christian piety that bothers me because it seems to sanction it. Someone I heard the other day on NPR who was reviewing the movie made what I thought was a good point....there was so much violence and blood and guts in the movie that you couldn't get to the spiritual meaning of Christ's death.

5. My sister-in-law is taking her 6-year old son.
I tried to tell her about the level of violence (not to mention the fact that all of the dialogue is subtitled) but she tuned me out. She says he can "handle it."

I'm secretly hoping my nephew gets bored and falls asleep right after the movie starts. If not I fear he'll be traumatized.

8. Yes, it's rated R
Which means that a child can get in if there's a parent along.

But I've read some commentary that says the level of violence really justifies a rating of NC-17. I refuse to take my 12-year old, and he's mature for his age. I shudder to think about a 6-year old seeing it.
