... even if finding her body didn't get as much press as when they found the little girl in Texas who was blonde-and-blue, they did get enough press in both the English and Spanish media so that her grandmother saw her and recognized her.

In a way it seems like a form of patronizing. (White) Women are weak and need to be protected and everybody else doesn't matter.

In a way I think that it's indicative of a massive epidemic of journalistic cowardice, in that there are so many issues that need to be highlighted which affects so many of us and the major networks devotes so much of their time and resources on what should be local news stories.
