Ok, I'm convinced. It's long past time for me to get the hell out of Florida.

We've already been plowed into by Tropical Storm Fay. A casual look at a weather map finds this looming disaster, called Hanna:

Here's Gustav, too. It looks like we're not going to get the worst of it, but it's still bad. Especially if it hits the New Orleans area as it looks like it might.

Yes, yes, I know, I need to get out of here. This is some frightening stuff. :scared:

1. It is scary.
We left after Wilma. Just couldn't take it anymore.

Stay safe.

2. Wilma was terrifying.
I've lived here most of my life, and I've never seen solid, healthy trees snapped in two like that before.

I'd rather not see it again.

5. Yes, it was.
We didn't lose any homes in our neighborhood, but there was still plenty of damage (Boca Raton). We had hurricane shutters, but I was still very scared. The second half was WAY worse than the first.

I hope you don't have to see it again.

9. It's too soon to tell.
It's still way out there, but it's never too soon to be prepared, in case it does.

7. I'll be happy if I never have to see a giant cockroach again.
Hell, I'm happy just living in a place where vegitation smells like vegitation, not decay.

10. No kidding.
Have you ever driven past a field, where they dump the rotten tomatoes?

It smells like every gallon of poo from Florida to Mississippi was dropped five feet away from your nose. Absolutely nauseating.

I love Chapel Hill.

13. Down here in the Keys
we have a bumper sticker from 2005. That year we had Dennis, Katrina (most don't know she stopped in here to visit first), Rita and then Wilma. One for each month. Wilma took my house and many, many cars.

The bumper sticker says: Another weekend, another hurricane.

Then we had two nice peaceful yesrs.

Now, here we go again. I feel your pain. I am thinking about moving back to NC myself.

A funny for you.

14. It's bad enough that the 2005 list ever got to Wilma.
We were well into the Greek alphabet before that season ended.

But yeah, I forgot that Katrina hit the Keys first, before leaving New Orleans and western Mississippi underwater. Natural disasters are no fun.
