3. It is kind of a dumb name though.
It was originally even dumber: The Silver Beatles. We don't think about how dumb it is because it's iconic.

Officially and in full, apologizes for Celine Dion and Bryan Adams, I'm not interested in their opinions on music.

15. No - have you forgotten Loverboy?
Loverboy is a cause for invasion, frankly. Nothing can excuse that crime against humanity.

12. OK, think what you will about the name...
but "The Beatles" is far from the dumbest band name ever. To confirm this, I give you "Hoobastank".

And for the record, I like both bands.

13. Limp Bizkit is apparently not as dumb a band name
as the Beatles. Yea, whatever.. How about Creed, Stain'd, Stryper or any of the other stupid corporate rock band names of the past? There are literally thousands of names worse than the Beatles. My guess is that this rag also thinks 80's heavy metal is the holy grail of music.

17. With the exception of that pick
it's actually a pretty good list. Take off The Beatles, move everyone else up one, and it's perfect.

23. "beatles," from "beat," abrev. of social phenomena "beat movement"
To Kerouac, "Beat," a shorthand term for `"beatitude" and the idea that the downtrodden are saintly -- was not about politics but about spirituality and art. -Douglas Brinkley

The Beat Generation attempted to communicate the thoughts, ideas and adventures of their normal lives.

so did the Beatles.

folks dont seem to understand that the Beatles were formed long before the advent of hippies and that the primary existing social and literary counter-culture movement at the time were the Beats.
