for reaffirming my belief that christ was a white northern european. of course mary as christ`s love interest was also a white northern european. no blacks,mixed races,and god -or mel-forbid any facial features that may detract from the message. the message? christ died for all the white northern europeans and no one else.

Having Christ played by a European actor (a dark-haired one, by the way) doesn't make it "as told by Hitler."

That's especially insulting because the director, Franco Zefferelli, was active in the anti-fascist underground in Italy during WWII (see Tea with Mussolini -- the teenage boy in that film is meant to be autobiographical).

Every culture depicts Jesus as their image, I've seen him black, asian, semitic, super aryan etc..

Not to be bitchy or anything but for some reason.. if Spike Lee would make a movie depicting Jesus black, I doubt you'd complain

15. You don't find it strange that Gibson has all of the characters

speaking in local tongues - Aramaic, Hebrew, Latin - thereby prompting the entire movie to be subtitled in English, yet he doesn't bother going the "authentic route" when it comes to the visual representation of those same characters?

Let's face it, the Jesus of Mel's film wouldn't be so appealing to American audiences if he looked like Jackie Mason or Jerry Stiller.
