Got a cold? I recommend Tom Yum soup!
Hell, I don't know if that's the real name, but it's from a local Asian 'fusion' place. It has shrimp, shitake, peppers, onions in a spicy broth. Got a helluva cold and this stuff just clears it up. Yum.

2. I don't think so. I've never seen it before.
But so many soups are good for colds.

This particular cold really sucks though. :(

4. Tom Yum (Thai) Hot-and-Sour soup (Chinese) or Gumbo for me.
Any excuse to splash some killer-holy-shit hot pepper sauce on my food.

5. It's Thai hot-and-sour soup...
...and comes in several varieties: there's Tom Yum Gai (chicken and clear broth), Tom Kah Gai (chicken and coconut-milk broth -- my favorite) and Tom Kah Kalay (seafood -- everything from salmon to octopus -- with coconut-milk broth). I'm assuming there's also a Tom Yum Kalay (seafood with clear broth), but I've yet to see it around here, although it sounds like the variety you got. All highly recommended!

6. I love that stuff.
I always order it in any Thai restaurant. It's HOT but the flavor is really interesting -- usually there is lemon grass in it which adds a nice sort of citrusy tang.
