"The text message, the text message"

Call me crazy but whenever someone mentions the Obama text message, and then starts complaining that they didn't get it or that they thought it turned out to be a bad idea because they weren't the "first" to know, I think of the scene in the movie "Good Will Hunting", when Robin Williams starts to go off at the professor, and says "the Field's Medal, the Field's Medal"

I don't know why. It just makes me think of that. I tried in another thread to post a clip of that scene from youtube but I couldn't get it to work.

I think the text message was a good idea although I didn't sign on for it. But I think it's crazy, and naive, to think that they were going to be the first to know. I had no doubts that the media would find out about it and scoop the text. And if you didn't get the text message, I am sure it was an oversight. I believe a lot of people did get them (and the e-mail) so Obama did live up to his promise.

Text or no text, we still have a great ticket. :bounce: :hi:

to me from SF this afternoon. We're living proof that Clinton and Obama supporters can get along in real life. He was a big HRC supporter, I was for Obama, but we just adore each other. :)

2. I left my cell phone at work yesterday.

I went downtown today to pick it up. And I checked it...and no text message! But hell, at that point, any text message was pretty superfluous. :-)

I donated this afternoon to Obama/Biden...and I'll be getting one of their swell t-shirts!

that they didn't get one. Last night, some people were saying how they were annoyed and felt they were being played that he didn't send it yet.

Some of the M$M was saying that Obama needs to send the text to live up to his promise.

I just found it all amusing.

I was just wading through my inbox...among the pics of the hot men Yahoo groups I belong to...:-)

And I just saw an email announcing the choice. It went out at 1:22AM this morning.

Christ, I really don't care at this point whether I got a text message or not. I'm pleased with our ticket, PLUS the openly gay Australian diver just won a gold medal at Beijing. It's all good for me today. :-)
