Poll question: Where have you waited the longest in line?
Edited on Wed Feb-25-04 02:14 AM by POed_Ex_Repub
If it's a movie, which movie?? If it's a ride, which ride... How long did you wait?

27. Yep. Me too.
Batman ride at Astroworld. Of course, it was 95 degrees and 95% humidity. And the yellowjackets were swarming us.

5. Qualcomm Stadium. To pick up my All Star game tix in 1992.
I was one of the 40,000 to be chosen in the ticket lottery. You could pick up your tix at the stadium on one saturday only. It was a hot summer day with the sun beating down on you, no shade. I swear there must have been at least 20,000 in a line all around the stadium. Four hours and a hell of a sunburn later I got my two tix for $85.00 a piece.

I waited over an hour "in line" to take my driver's license test.

But I've waited on the phone for about six hours for customer service in the past!

11. Overnight, at least 8 hours to board a ferry
Many times, primarily in Europe but also in Canada and once in the southeastern USA. They direct your car (in my case with camper) to one of several lines and then you're stuck, preferably with plenty of snack food, a radio and a book.

12. ER room in Concord Hospital
My (then) girlfriend had misstepped and broken her ankle. It took over 2 hours until a medic took a look at her and a total of 5 hours until we were on our way home.
And trust me, every minute feels like an hour when the one you love sits next to you in obvious pain.

17. Golf course. 18 hours.
Took a sleeping bag and slept overnight in line with a bunch of other lunatics so I'd be sure to get my son a slot in the junior golf program.

Nine weeks for ten bucks! Worth a night in line, IMO.

23. Longest line ever: THE BOOKSTORE!
Yes, on the campus of Valdosta State University, my freshman year. I had to wait for 2 hours in a line so gargantuan it could have made MechaGodzilla tremble. And all to buy overpriced textbooks. I never made the same mistake again.

31. Gas Line During the 1973-74 Arab Oil Embargo
I remember sitting on a gas line for four hours one Saturday morning. When I got on the line at 5AM, the end was about a mile from the station. The station didn't open until 8 - I got my alottment of gas about an hour later.

All this in a '62 VW Beetle with no heat. In the middle of March.

33. Over the phone, waiting to get help on a car I rented in the US but was
driving on business in Canada, and the ignition froze up on a Friday night as I was leaving the office. Yikes. I actually fell asleep at my desk for over 45 minutes while I was on hold at one point...
Sucked big time. Tow trucks, new rental (confusing as hell, since the kilometers/miles were reversed on the speedometer, took me a while to get used to that, sheesh...) repair shop, hassles, more hassles, many beers after it was all over, and a Bailey's or two as I recall...
