Post a song that makes you cry.
Or at least want to.

"It Will Be Me" by Melissa Etheridge
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwEefk0TzBk

It makes me think about all my friends who are in various corners of the world right now.

2. The Go-Betweens' "Cattle and Cane"
It's about memories, and so beautiful and haunting ... especially because the singer died two years ago in his late 40s.

7. Sorry I Am...Ani
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIpN-FhbTrY

I'm sorry I didn't sound more excited on the phone
I'm sorry that after all these years
I've left you feeling unrequited and alone, brought you to tears
I guess I never loved you quite as well as the way you loved me
I guess I'll never really be able to tell you how sorry
I am

And I don't know what it is about you
I just know it's not what it was
I don't know why red fades before blue, it just does
and I don't know what it is about me
that I just can't keep still
I keep thinking someday I will make this all up to you
and maybe someday I will

I guess I never loved you quite as well
as the way you loved me
I guess I'll never really be able to tell you how sorry
I am
sorry I am
sorry I am
sorry I am

I can't even listen to it anymore, personal reasons. I cry my eyes out if I hear it. Sigh.

11. "Louise" by Bonnie Raitt...
It reminds me of my little doggie, HRH Mimi Louise Hoochey Kooch, the Grand Duchess of DC, or "Wheezie" for short. I named her "Wheezie" first, because she was a VERY old lady (about 14 or 15 when I got her) and she wheezed a lot (she had a heart condition). Besides that, she was MOVIN' ON UP from the outside (instead o the East Side). She died on Christmas Day at 9pm. I held her in my arms the whole day.

When she sings, "they say Louise was not half bad," I am a GONER. She was my little num num girl.

12. Tangled Up in Blue by Bob Dylan
Early one mornin the sun was shinin,
I was layin in bed
Wondrin if shed changed at all
If her hair was still red.
Her folks they said our lives together
Sure was gonna be rough
They never did like mamas homemade dress
Papas bankbook wasnt big enough.
And I was standin on the side of the road
Rain fallin on my shoes
Heading out for the east coast
Lord knows Ive paid some dues gettin through,
Tangled up in blue.

She was married when we first met
Soon to be divorced
I helped her out of a jam, I guess,
But I used a little too much force.
We drove that car as far as we could
Abandoned it out west
Split up on a dark sad night
Both agreeing it was best.
She turned around to look at me
As I was walkin away
I heard her say over my shoulder,
Well meet again someday on the avenue,
Tangled up in blue.

I had a job in the great north woods
Working as a cook for a spell
But I never did like it all that much
And one day the ax just fell.
So I drifted down to new orleans
Where I happened to be employed
Workin for a while on a fishin boat
Right outside of delacroix.
But all the while I was alone
The past was close behind,
I seen a lot of women
But she never escaped my mind, and I just grew
Tangled up in blue.

She was workin in a topless place
And I stopped in for a beer,
I just kept lookin at the side of her face
In the spotlight so clear.
And later on as the crowd thinned out
Is just about to do the same,
She was standing there in back of my chair
Said to me, dont I know your name?
I muttered somethin underneath my breath,
She studied the lines on my face.
I must admit I felt a little uneasy
When she bent down to tie the laces of my shoe,
Tangled up in blue.

She lit a burner on the stove and offered me a pipe
I thought youd never say hello, she said
You look like the silent type.
Then she opened up a book of poems
And handed it to me
Written by an italian poet
From the thirteenth century.
And every one of them words rang true
And glowed like burnin coal
Pourin off of every page
Like it was written in my soul from me to you,
Tangled up in blue.

I lived with them on montague street
In a basement down the stairs,
There was music in the cafes at night
And revolution in the air.
Then he started into dealing with slaves
And something inside of him died.
She had to sell everything she owned
And froze up inside.
And when finally the bottom fell out
I became withdrawn,
The only thing I knew how to do
Was to keep on keepin on like a bird that flew,
Tangled up in blue.

So now Im goin back again,
I got to get to her somehow.
All the people we used to know
Theyre an illusion to me now.
Some are mathematicians
Some are carpenters wives.
Dont know how it all got started,
I dont know what theyre doin with their lives.
But me, Im still on the road
Headin for another joint
We always did feel the same,
We just saw it from a different point of view,
Tangled up in blue.

16. 'The Lighthouse Tale" by Nickel Creek

(I suggest that you listen to it with your eyes closed rather than looking at the images.)

:cry::cry::cry:

I am a lighthouse, worn by the weather and the waves.
I keep my lamp lit, to warn the sailors on their way.

I'll tell a story, paint you a picture from my past.
I was so happy, but joy in this life seldom lasts.

I had a keeper, he helped me warn the ships at sea.
We had grown closer, 'till his joy meant everything to me.

And he was to marry, a girl who shone with beauty and light.
And they loved each other, and with me watched the sunsets into night.

(Chorus)

And the waves crashing around me, the sand slips out to sea.
And the winds that blow remind me, of what has been, and what can never be.

She'd had to leave us, my keeper he prayed for a safe return.
But when the night came, the weather to a raging storm had turned.

He watched her ship fight, but in vain against the wild and terrible wave.
In me so helpless, as dashed against the rock she met her end.

(Chorus)

Then on the next day, my keeper found her washed up on the shore.
He kissed her cold face, that they'd be together soon he swore.

I saw him crying, watched as he buried her in the sand.
And then he climbed my tower, and off of the edge of me he ran.

(Chorus)

I am a lighthouse, worn by the weather and the waves.
And though I am empty, I still warn the sailors on their way.

25. Seiko Matsuda, "Watashi Dake no Tenshi ~Angel~"
It's a song she wrote for her daughter, telling her that she misses her while she's at work, etc. etc. etc...a really sweet and simple and heartfelt song from a mother's point of view.

I lose it at the 4:38 mark, when she hits the high note.
