I'm all nervous, it's just a short little update interview, but dang if I ain't all willied about it. :scared:

My notes are way to big. Hopefull in writing themI will have figured itout enough I can do it without them

you will remember them that way. Write a bit more if you are worried and it will calm you down and plug your subconscious with the highlights and the rest will flow tomorrow.

then you can focus again on that mouse thang before bed.

5. AN interview on CBC's morning show in Southern ALberta

Tomorrow around seven Am. It's just part of their rural round up. It's regarding an article I wrote on the Black Creek Rangeland..a protected area that will not be allowing ATVs to use a couple trails to acces another area.

All my good interview experiences have been with radio. (People tell me I have a face for it, ha ha.) They had me on a link with 5 different CBC stations in turn, about 3 years ago, to talk about global warming. All the interviewers were very good and put me at ease right away. I especially liked the woman at the Whitehorse station, who was doing all the technical work herself because nobody else was in the control room up there!

19. hey, me too ...

What I do is pause for a count of 5 (long enough to calm myself down, but not so long that it creates an awkward pause). If I still need more time to regroup, I say something like "well ...", or "interesting ..." (I try to alternate between them so I don't sound too repetitive). And in your case, it sounds like you've been preparing, so you won't be floored by an unexpected question.

One thing my colleagues suggested was slipping in the interviewer's name now and then (I had to write it down to remind myself, since with multiple stations talking to me it was easy to get them mixed up!). And saying things like "that's an excellent point you raise", or "as you mentioned earlier", because it helped tie the conversation together and gave that cozy feeling that CBC people seem to favour on their shows.


p.s. and what Don said about keeping things terse. For the technical stuff, I worked out a bunch of analogies beforehand, so I could explain things quickly and simply -- "infrared radiation, kind of like the signals given off by a TV clicker ... you can't see the energy, but it's there". It got me out of potentially long, turgid explanations, and pleased the interviewers.
