8. I don't think so.
If Jon had openly laid into the guy, or just dismissed everything he said as being full of shit (which, for the most part, it was), all that we would have seen was Jon Stewart acting like an idiot. Jon did exactly what he should have done - he took the high road, gave Podhoretz free reign and the benefit of the doubt, and let him dig his own grave.

I admit my use of the phrase "tearing him a new one" was overzealous, but he was hardly sucking up.

9. He raised some good points,
zinged him when he could. Although he really gave bush more credit than I'd expect him to... bah.
Point taken though, he couldn't unload on his guest.

4. Podhoretz is a buffoon
He's outraged that anyone dares attack Boy King george, while admitting that he spent 4 years slurring Clinton.

The audience is laughing mockingly at everything he says.

6. I don't know Podhoretz
but he badly misjudged his ability to hold his own on this show. He's floundering badly. Jon seems to feel sorry for him. The guy was crying about how unfair the media has been to Bush, portraying him as a moron, as Hitler. He complained that the level of discourse is vicious...due to liberals. Then he seemed downright poll-axed when Stewart brought up the endless campaign against Clinton. This man seems foolish and ill-prepared. No wonder he's a Bushie.

I'm surprised Jon didn't tear him a new one.
