Am I the only one who does this?

If there's a CD by a band I really like coming out, I will make a mad dash to a CD store to buy it on the first day it comes out. Despite the fact that I have an iPod and it would be easier to download it from the iTunes store. I actually did this yesterday - bought "Common Reaction" by Uh Huh Her. Which is a damn good CD, by the way.

I'm such a music geek.

1. I still mail order records

Probably 5-20 times a month. Nearly everything I own on record can be bought on CD ( minus the uber rare shit like this: http://www.popsike.com/php/detaildata.php?itemnr=100502733059 ) but I still check my mailbox everyday to see if I get a new LP or 45 I've ordered.

Most newer, popular music I like I usually steal. And I don't feel bad about it. If I see a band live I like, which is far more likely to happen, I'll buy a CD.

3. I don't do it with CDs, but

I will do it with French-Canadian movies. I used to live in Quebec and miss the place terribly, so I'll buy just about any movie made there even if the premise doesn't interest me at all.

I also did it with DVD season releases of NewsRadio, the funniest show I've ever seen.

4. I download it a few weeks before it comes out, then I'll pick it up when it comes out.

First day, if I can afford to and have the time to go to the record store.
