I'm sorry. Please forgive me.
But I freaking LOVE the Olympics!

This year, I had to throw politics aside. The athletes, nor myself, can't control where they decide the Olympics will take place. I think very few will decide to give up their dream because of where they're located. I think if they were held in Pluto, most will still go.

As a sports fan, and despite some of the negative things the Olympics have become, they are still the most elite athletic competition on the planet.

The use of performance enhancing drugs, commercialization, greedy corporate owners and allowing professional athletes to compete have tainted the Games a bit but I still enjoy watching them.

I think this year's Games have been one of the most exciting during my lifetime. I am not sure if it was because of Phelps or that it was in China (I believe I read that the opening ceremonies was the highest-rated non-American opener in history) but they have been pretty thrilling.

I still get chills when we win a Gold and the flag is raised and the anthem starts playing. Ok, I am a bit of a dork. :P But still, I am really enjoying it.

GO USA! :) :P

3. I feel the same as you
I really enjoy them. It's once every four years and well all try to at least pretend that there's more to life on earth besides death, disease and warfare. I think that's very much worth celebrating. And I love seeing athletes from other countries and sports we don't see very much, hardly at all.

5. I agree about the other countries.
It's nice to see them win too, especially those countries that bring only a handful of athletes. I like the whole international flair of the Games. :) :hi:

4. Can you believe I didn't watch one single event....
I've never done that in the past. Just not interested this time, but I think all our gold medals are great.
