Forget it - I'm giving up. I'm not getting this new job.
I called the lady at lunch time - the one who said she's trying to get them to hire me...it's not that I don't believe her. It's just she hasn't called me back, which leads me to believe they've told her no. I'm pretty disapointed about this, I really wanted to be closer to my family and friends especially since my sister's wedding when I realize how I've grown apart from them in all the years I was away.

This has left a bad taste in my mouth and I will never speak in glowing terms of this company. I at least expected a phonecall back from this woman.

Way it goes, you wake up thinking things will be okay, and all that really happend is you beat a mouse to death. I knew this would happen. It was too perfect a gig.

1. Too bad. Hang in there.
If you can just survive until bushsucks* is gone, I think things'll be a whole lot different. In any case, sorry about your luck.

8. I thought so because you've mentioned it before
Does it suck? That's another thing about bushsucks* and the economy, the jobs that are there have been steadily going downhill under his "leadership".

2. If you really want it, keep following up.
I called one of two contacts at my present company each week for 6 weeks before I got the offer. I always joke that they only hired me to shut me up. But I wanted it and needed it BADLY, and I just refused to give up.

4. It's not that easy
Once this job is filled - that's it. It's as editor of a very small paper. I'm just going to keep looking, but it won't be the same. The whole point was to get closer to home. Anywhere else, I may as well stay here.

5. Hang in there HeyHey
Its early yet. I'd have been surprised if they had come to a decision this early.

It is an unfortunate aspect of journalism that you will have to move for work more than once.
Keep your chin up.

10. I know, and that was what I was this close to avoiding
I mean, not even a phonecall though? When you say to someone, "I like what I see, I'll just have to call head office and clearit with them."

If head office says no you OWE them a call or at least an email.

6. Dude, that sucks....but if it makes you feel better....
I applied for a couple full time positions within the company I am currently working for. I could do these jobs easily and yet, the first one I applied for they hired a person with NO radio experience (I have 8 years) from a coffe company over me. The second positon I applied for is still in the realm of possibility but I've decided to take the Costanza appraoch on it and think opposite. I won't get the job, they hate me, they don't want me...all that. We shall see.
And just to make you feel better..on the first job the human resources person didn't have the deceny to at least call me to let me know I didn't get it. I called her and she says, "Oh, yeah..well that position was filled, the girl started Monday.) I called on that Tuesday.
I ended up calling the GM and he agreed that is was bad form on her part and would speak to her, so I may have screwed myself that ay with this "human" resources person. Screw it, I had nothing to lose anyway.
