Poll question: Favorite Peter Gabriel Song
I've been going through a Peter Gabriel phase the last few days. Biko still sends shivers down my spine. What about you?

8. I left it off
I had a roommate in college who would put that song on repeat and leave it for hours. It kind of ruined it for me. Sorry.x(

Edited on Tue Feb-24-04 06:24 PM by 56kid
but if anyone votes for Phil Collins I'm organizing a posse.

oh and I'm going to vote for Exposure just to be contrarian, the version on Fripp's album that Gabriel sings.

10. I LIKE Phil Collins.
I like Peter Gabriel too.

Is there any rule that says a person can't like both?????!!!!

12. No problem
liking both is fine.
Saying "screw Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins rules" (the poll option) is another matter entirely!!

21. In Your Eyes
While that is a total cliche, it is one of the best songs ever written.

But PG has so many awesome songs, I also really love Solsbury Hill, Games Without Frontiers, Biko, every song on Security, every song on Passion, and the songs Sky Blue and More Than This on his newest, UP, are among his very best!!

24. Jeux sans frontieres
Hans plays with Lotte, Lotte plays with Jane
Jane plays with Willi, Willi is happy again
Suki plays with Leo, Sacha plays with Britt
Adolf builts a bonfire, Enrico plays with it
-Whistling tunes we hid in the dunes by the seaside
-Whistling tunes we're kissing baboons in the jungle
It's a knockout
If looks could kill, they probably will
In games without frontiers-war without tears
Games without frontiers-war without tears

Jeux sans frontieres
Jeux sans frontieres
Jeux sans frontieres

Andre has a red flag, Chiang Ching's is blue
They all have hills to fly them on except for Lin Tai Yu
Dressing up in costumes, playing silly games
Hiding out in tree-tops shouting out rude names
-Whistling tunes we hide in the dunes by the seaside
-Whistling tunes we piss on the goons in the jungle
It's a knockout
If looks could kill they probably will
In games without frontiers-wars without tears
If looks could kill they probably will
In games without frontiers-war without tears
Games without frontiers-war without tears

25. "D.I.Y.", "Animal Magic"
From the 'Scratch' album.

If you throw the floor open to Gabriel-era Genesis, then I'd include "Supper's Ready", "Counting Out Time" , "Back in N.Y.C.",and "The Musical Box". Not sure if he shared songwriting credits with the rest of the band on those, though.

28. Yes, it has a good beat and you can dance to it. No lessons.
One of my favorites is "Big Time". ooh yeah. Now being used for advertising (I think) Lincoln Town cars. My son saw, heard it, and said "That's the opposite of what the song is".

Yeah, the advertisers hope people don't listen. Kind of like Reagan and "Born in the U.S.A.".

31. Can't pick just one!
Edited on Tue Feb-24-04 11:12 PM by KadeCarrion
I've been going through a PG phase for the past few months, so here are my picks:

PG III (Melt):
Intruder
Games Without Frontiers
Lead A Normal Life

Security:
Rythym of the Heat
I Have the Touch
Family & the Fishing Net
Lay Your Hands on Me
Kiss of Life

So:
Red Rain
In Your Eyes
We Do What We're Told

Us: (my favorite album, if I were forced to choose)
Come Talk to Me
Love to Be Loved
Only Us
Digging in the Dirt
Kiss That Frog
Secret World

Up:
Darkness
No Way Out
I Grieve
My Head Sounds Like That
More Than This
Signal to Noise

I can't emphasize enough, I love all of his music, and cannot possibly pick just one favorite. Yay for PG!

Edit: Since I don't have his first two albums (yet) I can't pick faves off those, but obviously, Solsbury Hill would be one of them!
