2. a girlfriend of mine worked in a kidney stone clinic many years ago...
they would "zap" them with ultrasound into the smallest possible pieces that would be passed in normal urine.

that was many years ago. i am positive the technology must be so much better today.

and cysts are a very normal occurrence, medically speaking. a daily occurrence.

so relax my friend sasquatch. medical problems occur every day. its not the end of the world, its just something to be dealt with...

sucks. yep. end of the world. nope.

10. Although it's been over ten years since I had any removed,
my urologist at the time said because mine was stuck in the tube between the kidney and the bladder (urethra? ureter?) they could not do the ultrasound therapy because that tube is too fragile to take the pulses. So, here we come with the catheter!

I did work with someone that once told me his doctor gave him some medication that dissolved the stones. I don't know which kind he had, but that seems like another option, too.

8. No reason they should be. Ovarian cysts are caused usually by the little
follicle on the ovary not releasing, instead the egg to be sort of sets up a large fluid filled sac on the ovary. Sometimes they pop on their own, or develop a slow leak. This is way simplistic and I am not a doctor or a nurse but I did have an ovarian cyst and a kidney stone, though not at the same time.

sometimes they have other causes and sometimes they are caused by endometriosis.

Renal Stones are a product of the urinary system, not related at all. There are many theories about why we get the stones. They hurt like hell. For many people they are a once in a lifetime thing and for others they recur. I hope to hell I am in the former group.

4. Thankfully, I've never had a kidney stone, but have had friends who did
they said that is was the male equivalent of giving birth...it was that painful. I'm sure technology is much more advanced these days, though.

What the hell would THEY know about giving birth, anyway?

6. Take it from someone who KNOWS..birth is a piece of cake compared to a kidney stone
I am really glad I had the stone before I had the baby, it made the baby so much easier.
