But where in the bible does it say that Adam and Eve were married? I know it refers to Eve as Adam's wife, but who the hell married them?

I can find the Biblical reference to that holy little piece of inspiration, if anyone wants it.

12. Ok - lets carry this a dangerous step further - -
.
.
.

If the world did indeed start out with Adam and Eve, (which I don't subscribe too anyhoo, but this is just a "whatif" anyhoo)

Where did the NEXT generation come from ?

Wouldn't that require what we now call INCEST ?

And

The next genration after that would certainly require at least cousins?

Can't BE tho

- that's all ILLEGAL!!

:silly:

43. That very issue was covered rather humerously in...
Jerome Lawrence and Robert Lee's dramatization of the Scopes trial, Inherit the Wind (great Spencer Tracy movie too, if you can find it).

The defense attorney (Drummond) has the prosecuting attorney (Brady) on the stand as an expert on the Bible:

DRUMMOND: "...and Cain knew his wife." Where the hell did SHE come from?

BRADY: Who?

DRUMMOND: Mrs. Cain. Cain's wife. If, "in the beginning," there were only Adam and Eve, and Cain and Abel, where'd this extra woman spring from? Ever figure that out?

BRADY: No, sir. I will leave the agnostics to hunt for her.

DRUMMOND: Never bothered you?

BRADY: Never bothered me.

DRUMMOND: Never tried to find out?

BRADY: No.

DRUMMOND: Figure somebody pulled off another creation, over in the next county?

BRADY: The Bible satisfies me, it is enough.

DRUMMOND: It frightens me to imagine the state of learning in this world if everyone had your driving curiosity.

Of course, Brady and Drummond were actually William Jennings Bryan and Clarence Darrow in real life, but it's a great dramatization.

16. If you really want to get your head spinning
Consider the fate of brother Cain, sent out of the Garden of Eden after killing Abel, where he settled in the land of Nod. He had a wife who bore him a child, Enoch.

Where did his wife come from?

Easy! She was his sister!

Wrap your head around that for a bit.

Adam and Steve can do what they want, especially if they feel toward each other what Adam felt toward Eve of if it's Adam who fancied both Eve and Steve... Just as long as they don't act like Cain...

:D

25. The whole proposition is absurd.
Obviously a male and a female would be needed in his creation scenario; otherwise, humans would have died out. But that has NOTHING to say about the homosexuality of a portion of the population.
Now, if some Dem had said that, the pundits would take the remark apart for being illogical. :eyes:

"As you treat the least among you, you treat me,"do you remember that one Jerry?

Edited on Tue Feb-24-04 11:47 PM by Rabrrrrrr
But what's funny, is that of course the Hebrew people called themselves Hebrew - that is the Hebrew word for "Hebrew". But the idiots are making it into an English word to get their idiot pun to work, because Hebrew has no word pronounced "Shebrew", so the little joke is pointless and moranic.

Anyway, it makes me angry.

41. When you have to resort to this kind of mindless idiocy, you've lost.
Falwell and his American Taliban may win this battle for now, but they WILL ultimately lose.

I hate using words like "war" describing our demand for the same rights as everyone else, but Falwell and his minions framed their hatred of gay people as a war, so....

Society will come around to acceptance of gay people. It will happen. I only wish Falwell will live long enough to see it happen.

Terry
