An IE question from an 'alleged' expert!!!
I'm supposed to know PCs inside and out, but this one has me stumped. I've checked EVERYTHING within IE so maybe it's an issue with XP Pro.

When I go to save a graphic from the web (right click, etc) no matter what the format, usually JPG or GIF, it will only save as a BMP format image. Odd???

Any ideas???

1. Happened on my computer
But not on my other computer (which is XP as well). I thought it was just me.

4. I suspect that one or more of your graphics programs have "associated"
Edited on Tue Feb-24-04 05:50 PM by ConcernedCanuk
.
.
.

Themselves with the other formats, and made them the "exclusive" program to open these files if opened from explorer or IExplore

I have gone into the associations and "disassociated" these programs so I have to "choose" the "open with" option

Too many durn programs wanna DOMINATE !!

SYMPTOMS
When you use the Save Picture As command for a graphics file in Internet Explorer, you may be able to save the file only as a BMP file, even if the file is in another format (such as GIF or JPEG). The file name may also appear as "Untitled."
CAUSE
There are several reasons why this issue may occur.

This issue may occur if your Temporary Internet pages cache is full.

This issue can occur if you have "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" selected in Tools, Options, Advanced Tab and are loading the page over a secure connection (https).

This issue can occur when you connect to a Web site using an address that contains <username:password>. For example, the server is accessed through http://<username:password@site>/default.htm, instead of http://<site>/default.htm.

For more information about an additional cause for this issue, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
