About a dozen people get killed while trying to save one person. We're not talking about saving someone who controls the universe or the fate of all mankind, I could see that. But the ones where it's someone's wife, husband, best friend, bratty college kid, etc. make no sense at all. The movies want you to think that it all ends so great when they finally get saved. Never mind half the posse that got killed on the way along with the trusted servant, plus the old woman and her husband in the small village who had their tongues cut out for telling the people where to find their friend kidnapped by the rebels, etc.
Then at the end everyone is all happy, sitting around a big dining room table back home, eating a nice big dinner and drinking wine, laughing and smiling, happy music, one even makes a joke about the whole ordeal, then "The End" :puke:
