My fish died
I know what you're thinking, fish die all the time, what's the big deal?!

Mr Fish was my one and only goldfish, who passed away after 12 years!!

I miss him. You really get attached after the first ten years. Anyone else have really old goldfish or is this a fluke?

2. Wow! A 12 year old fish!
I've never heard of one living more than a few years. How big was he?

And I'm sorry for your loss.

3. We had a couple of them for 5 or 6 years
they were in this little bowl and hardly grew at all. Finally gave them to a local seafood market who had this huge tank. They grew like crazy after that. Unbelievable. I think they're still alive three years later.

5. Thanks, everyone!
I put him in a 10-gallon tank and he DID grow...he was about 6 inches long, not counting his beautiful tail and fins. Another plus for goldfish--he kept his tank very clean so I only had to clean it every few months.
the cat is quite sad as well :grouphug:

8. My outdoor pond goldfish lived a long time and
would have lived even longer if someone had not forgotten to turn off the hose when replentishing the evaporated water. Our guys grew to be about 9".

I feel your pain. My dog just died.

and a big hug  for you.
I lost one of my biggies last year after 7 years, the survivor is now at least 8 and is getting along well with "the boarders" (my girlfriend's barrel fountain fish)

I have heard that goldfish can live to almost 50 years. I'm hoping to find out.
