I have been getting lots of calls from telemarketers...
Telemarketers have been calling my house about three to five times every single day for the past few months, no exaggeration! I have two questions.

1. How can I creatively have some fun with them?

2. How do I get them to stop? Pressing 2 to take my number off their list, like they say, does not work- that particular company does not stop calling anyway.

Peace,

1. Tell them that they have called a murder scene...
and as such, they need to be questioned.

Ask them if they can hold while you talk to the Senior Detective.

When they say yes, put the phone down and walk away.

3. When telemarketers call me, I call them
I ask them if they want to donate to charity. They will never call you again.

4. Did that a year ago...
I've got some incredibly hard-headed telemarketers trying to tell me my vehicle warranty is about to expire.

Funny thing, though: my car, my husband's car, are long paid for, and there is no longer a warranty on either.

I've told them twice to remove me from their list, along with pointing out quite forcefully that I am on the Do Not Call list. Since I've told them that? The calls have increased. I kid you not. It's insane.

5. Document the date, time and name of the company that called
Edited on Sat Aug-16-08 12:38 AM by lizziegrace
In Ohio, once you notified a company that you wanted to be removed from their list, every call you got from them after that first warning meant $500 in small claims court. (I made notes on the calendar hanging by the phone) $500/call. And since most companies are out of state, they won't send anyone to the hearing and you'll get a default judgment if you'd like to pursue it.

Call your state Attorney General's office and ask about your state laws.

Good luck!

7. Oh, I've done that times ten...
And filed a complaint with the FCC. Hasn't done any good at all. The worst part? They're doing it on cell phones, which is a big "no" (or is supposed to be). There was a write up about this particular scam not too long ago in a tech publication. They said the same thing: "the Feds are off duty," basically. It's stupid. Here's hoping you never get on their list.

9. Not the FCC
Small claims court in your town. I was ready to file against our local paper who called me 6 times after they were warned. I told the telemarketer that I was prepared to file for $3,000 in accordance with Ohio law and the calls miraculously stopped.

6. Report them to the FCC.
I've been getting those calls on my cell phone, which is illegal (not to mention really stupid, since my car is over fifteen years old). I finally just hang up without saying a word and go directly to: http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

No matter how often you press "2", they always try again in a few days. Turn the jerks in.

I've done that! No response from the FCC in over six months.
They are getting on my last freaking nerve, I swear. They seem untouchable. And it pisses me off.

OK, rant over. I just let the phone ring when it looks like one of "their" numbers.
