I need to head up to the Great Lakes area some time to visit my sister who moved to South Bend this past June.

I'd love to make it an extended trip so I can visit Chicago, Detroit, and Cleveland.

It's a wonderful thing, wandering, but it feels so good to be home, doesn't it?

My "Shadow" and I just returned this afternoon... an ice-chest full of fish fillets, black cherries, and a bushel of peaches... from our last week at the lake. We spent yesterday tubing down the Platte River, stalking Great Blue Heron, and climbing endless sand dunes along Lake Michigan.

I'm ready, now, to climb into my own bed with familiar scents, sensations, and arms around me... :)


I was fortunate to come across a small scrap from a plank of old growth Walnut. The tree was cut before the turn of the last century (late 1800's)and had lain submerged in Torch River for over 100 years before being pulled free and milled. My first attempt at carving...
