OMG I am just bouncing off the ceiling right now!!!

Remember my thread yesterday, asking about charity wedding registrations? http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=8017567&mesg_id=8017567

Well, we signed up and I sent the info to a couple who had asked me where we were registered... and i just got notified that they sent $250 to one of our charities!!! They picked Wheels 4 Life, an organization that provides bicycles to people in developing countries. Iza loves this organization, being a complete bike nerd (he races and is a mechanic) so it was just perfect for our registry.

I AM SO EXCITED!!! I got the notification and just started crying. I am so happy about this decision already - after all, how often does a fondue set reduce you to tears? ;)

:bounce:

:woohoo:

29. Haha.
That is really cool about the charity registration though. If I ever get married, I'll definitely look into doing that myself. (Not happening any time soon, mind you, but still...haha.)

30. Thank you!

I'm totally excited about it. I'm having a hard time waiting for people to ask me where we're registered, i want to tell everyoen - but i don't want Miss Manners to come after me. ;)

7. Your marriage is helping the world!
That's wonderful! Wheels 4 Life sounds like a great one, I'll look it up.
I love this one because they purchase land for nature preserves. My 93-year-old mom has been contributing for years.

I tried to talk my husband's family into doing this sort of thing for our Christmas celebration, but I guess they prefer "stuff".

9. Awesome! And to think, on TV on a Diva Bridezilla Godbitch show advert,
a woman is in tears because her flowers are the wrong fucking color or some other god-awful horrible earth-shattering failure.

I so applaud you so much for all this that mere smilies would be an insult to the depth of my appreciation for what you are doing.

17. That is just totally awesome. What a start up!
I think that is a wholly wonderful thing.

My niece, who had a big fat Italian wedding did one thing that was different. Apparantly it has become customary to have table favors of some kind for the guests these days anyway at all the dinner places there were little cards that said they had made a donation to The MS Society in lieu of table favors; one of their bridesmaids (maid of honor I think) has MS and they do a lot of fund raising for it anyway but I thought that was sweet. :yourock: :yourock: :yourock: :yourock: :yourock: :yourock:

24. That's called "gravity" m'dear.
If one does indeed hit the ceiling, coming back down isn't "bouncing". It's obeying the laws of gravity.

Thank you.

32. What if she was being lifted and placed back by a giant robotic alien arm from another planet...
Edited on Sun Aug-17-08 06:39 PM by primate1
Rather than being pulled down by gravity? Of course, gravity would still effect her, but her return to terra firma would not be the result of gravity in that case.
