Sometimes, I think I think too much. While this is not a prize winner... it does come from the heart...and I thought I would share it.
The Rudolph Philosophy.
I’m sure that most of us are familiar with (the song) movie, Rudolph The Rednose Reindeer. And if not, where have you been hiding for the last 40yrs or so???
But just in case, a brief summary. Rudolph was born with a red nose that glows. His parents tried to make him hide it. But during a reindeer game, it was discovered by all the other reindeer. And well as you know, they laughed and called him names. And would not let him play any reindeer games. So poor Rudolph felt like a misfit. Enter the other misfit, Hermey the elf. He wanted to be a dentist. He did not like to build toys like all the other elves. Anyhow… to cut a long story short, the misfits were able to save Christmas. And they were all loved yadda yadda…
Okay, y’all might be saying, “okay, what is your point?”
Well I was thinking at work today, about how everyone is different. No one is perfect. But there are still some that don’t quite fit in for whatever reason. And sometimes, like Ruldolph they are called names and laughed at. (the jury is still out though on the reindeer games). Some people enjoy the misfit status and embrace it. Others though, sometimes get hurt by the name calling.
But like Rudolph and Hermey, the misfits aren’t really misfits. We all have a place in the world. We are all pieces of a puzzle and we fit in somewhere, somehow. We all have a purpose. Even if we don't know what it is. God does.
So to those who like to treat people like misfits because they are a little different than them…
And to ‘the misfits’…remember…we are all in this together. What matters is not what you look like, what you wear, what kind of job you have, how much money you have, if you drive a nice car, wear nice clothes. You don’t look into a mirror and see who you really are. What matters most is what you have in your heart.
And that is what I am calling The Rudolph Philosophy.
