Mouse fight gets gruesome
Okay, last night was the worst of this mouse problem. I heard the trap go off at around six this morning. I figured whatever was in there was dead – as usual. (Also I can’t find any live traps in this town) SO I decided to stay in bed and leave the clean up for later. Then I hear another noise. Turned on the flashlight and saw the poor thing was still alive, only it’s back legs were caught. I walked towards it to inspect….. it tried to scurry away dragging the trap. I picked up a stick to block its retreat. Then, as we looked into each other’s eyes it just sat there and let measure it up with the stick – I had to beat it to death.

Not exactly the best way to wake up. Or for the mouse – to end up. Poor little guy. I feel bad, but I can’t live in a mouse infested apartment.

4. How many have you caught and what are you putting on the traps?

Seriously, I know this sucks. We have had to deal with it ourselves but you will succeed!

We called around when we had a mouse problem and Sentinel, bless them, told us that they wouldn't do anything that we couldn't do ourselves. Save the money unless you are just to grossed out to deal with it is what they said. Terminex wanted over 1,000$ and a year contract to do what we could do ourselves.

Edit: after about a week, the problem was dealt this. There is a light at the end of the tunnel!

15. Well if they're DOOMED at least the peanut butter cups are a GREAT last
meal.

I commiserate ENTIRELY.

Last year when I posted here my HORROR at, the same as you, the little beastie being still alive, I was bashed about badly by the all things are sacred mouse lovers in here.

And bless their hearts for being who they are, but that wasn't what I was looking for at the moment.

I understand. Looking into their little black eyes, knowing you are sending them to a painful death is really, really hard.

8. Mouse traps are not for the squeamish
You could always get some non-harmful traps so you can catch them and release them in a field somewhere near your boss' house. Or get a little cage and keep them as pets.

10. Is there an SPCA in that town of yours?
Sometimes the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will have no-kill traps...but, if you are in podunk-ville, maybe there isn't one around.

18. Been there, doing that...
Those barn owls we hear at night aren't doing their job!
We have some 5-6" rats living in a woodpile and they venture into the basement and attic sometimes. I've caught several over the years in a Havahart trap and released them near a creek out in the country. I've got one now in the shed, a temporary pet, awaiting her trip to the countryside.
Once one got into the kitchen (coming up through a hole for the water pipes) the night before we were leaving on a 2 week trip. To expedite getting him out before we left I reluctantly set out a snap trap and later heard the bale snap with a loud click- as though he had deftly removed the bait. Upon inspection I found a small spray of blood on the wall where the rat had leapt away with his poor cut tail or foot bleeding. I've hated those traps ever since a friend tried to catch a mouse and his nose was badly injured when the bale hit it, but he got away to suffer until he died.
I have some friends who live in the country in New Hampshire, and the man invented an electrocution trap when a huge rat kept showing up in their kitchen! Later I saw a similar trap at the hardware store but they were $60-70.00.
Hey, Good luck, HEyHEy.

19. If the legs were broke, you probably were humane
Kinda like the hunters who do it "to keep the deer from starving".

Wonder why they always target the big'uns with huge racks. (Antlers!)
