Quick! Somebody give me some oxygen!
Edited on Sat Aug-09-08 11:30 PM by bluesbassman
Foolishly, I decided to amble on over to GD and poke around a bit. Somebody just posted yet another pontification on the sins of JE. Now I'm not gonna weigh in one way or the other on this, but gawdamn, how many threads is it gonna take for people to flame out on that shit?!

And then some jackass is claiming that the homeless have pets so they can increase their "take"! Have all of these people just woke up out of a coma and decided to start posting again?

I think I'll stick around here for a few days until the fumigators are done.

edit for spelling bbm

1. As someone who used to be homeless
and as someone who has done a hell of a lot of volunteer work with/for homeless people, I'll state with some authority that the vast majority of homeless people are struggling to survive.

There are a some scammers out there who are professional beggers and a few of them actually do quite well. But most of the professional beggers aren't really homeless. They are not spending hours out scrounging for food from one community kitchen to the next, or standing in long lines waiting to take a shower someplace, or waiting in lines for a bed or searching for someplace safe to sleep. Being homeless means wasting huge amounts of time waiting for every little thing, and every little bit of help. Those professional beggers have far too much free time, sitting in the same place and beg all day every day.

2. I agree with your statement.
I would think that having a pet would be an enormous comfort to what is otherwise a tedious existence. The poster in the other thread just didn't seem to get that. Thanks for sharing from your personal experience Thom.:pals:
