Yes, it's probably infected (I think an old filling broke, leaving an unprotected hole in my tooth), and yes, I need to call the dentist, but Monday will be the soonest I can get in, and it's really starting to bother me now.

They usually have a few emergency slots open. If he agrees it's infected, I can get an Rx for antibiotics until the real repair work can be done. Unfortunately, a broken 30-year-old filling probably means a cracked tooth, which probably means no hope for a root canal to save the tooth.

I let it sit in the cotton ball for a while, and am now simply drinking a glass of brandy. All I had left for brandy was E&J, and wow! It's a disappointment after a few months of Courvoisier cognac. I used to like E&J just fine until the good cognac spoiled me.
