I was a big fan of the original Millionaire when it premeired in 2000. I still think it was one of the best game shows ever produced. ABC definitely made a mistake by overutilizing the program. It was a good show in moderation, maybe once or twice a week; however, I think ABC relied too heavily on Regis and eventually the show dissolved. That's the moment I think ABC began to slip to 4th place among the networks.
I've never seen the syndicated version with Meredith Vierra, so it's been a few years since I've seen the program. I think this new version on primetime ABC is entertaining. That guy tonight was hilarious.
I saw it had the best ratings in the Sunday 9:00 timeslot. Hopefully ABC will bring it back after its initial 5 night run. I've read that they'd consider bringing it back in 5 episode installations four times a year.
I LOVE the show, I think it is good when people can win something from having intelligence and knowing things rather than winning a contest because you can eat gross stuff (like on Fear Factor :puke: ). I'm really glad to see it come back and hope they will keep it on regularly.
