Poll question: Did you join in the "Disco Sucks" phenomenon?
Did you join in the "Disco Sucks" phenomenon?

At the time, I continued to like both disco & rock, and I NEVER understood the backlash...

2. The tragic tale of my youth
Hated polyester, so I never did well in the discos. Cocaine was never an interest of mine. And I certainly never got laid.

Nope ... for me, there was Punk Rock.

And I don't regret my decision one bit. Even if it did delay my experimentation with drugs and losing my virginity.

4. I like both.
Grew up with both, still like both. I'm more inclined towards punk than disco, but sometimes I *really* like, say, Chumbawumba! :)

6. Hated it.I nodded out in a hippie cowboy bar in Dallas on Lower Greenville
with hair halfway down to my ass, wearing jeans, flannel shirt with sawdust on the floor. When I came to I was in a large room with cut glass light fixtures and wall to wall polyester. The world had undergone a shift of seismic proportions.
I was a pretty hardcore road bum in those days.Thought nothing of hitchhiking from Austin to San Francisco with the clothes on my back and my trusty border collie Joe Bob.
Those were different times.Hitchhiking was an acceptable means of travel if you were young.Wouldn't do it on a bet now.

9. I Thought Disco
was the Anti-christ. Figured it was a blip on the radar until REAL rock made its comeback. I'm still waiting, and now disco sounds good compared to what's out there.

11. Was the proud owner of more than one "Disco Sucks" t-shirt.
Now I like funk, and electronica and I'm neutral about disco. I'm sort of embarrassed now about it in that I see my previous aversion to disco a reactionary stance with probably some unconscious racism thrown in. I avoided this reaction to rap.
