The BlueIris Semi-Nightly Poetry Break, 8/8/08
"A Parable"

I think that almost all Americans know about the story of Sun and Wind.

They tried to take the coat off from the traveler.

First, the north wind blew very hard. But the traveler kept his coat really hard.

Next, the sun shined and made him warm. Then, the traveler easily took his coat off.

Even kids know this theory.

I wonder why the Americans keep being the north wind.

 Plus some of us are in GD trying to read a non-Edwards-related post or two. Hate us, indeed. :P

5. Well, you, I still like.

6. That is fantastic. That last line changes this entirely
from a mediocre poem to one that very creatively grabs you by throat and makes you think.

We are the North Wind, and we're blowing cold across everyone we meet. How I desperately wish we could change our arrogant culture, our political arrogance, and our automatic kow-towing to corporate interests that make us the north wind on their behalf.

There is so much more we could accomplish if we stopped trying to blow so hard. :(

I really love this analogy. I'm going to remember this.

8. My dear BlueIris!
I'm sorry I haven't been around much today...

I've been caught up in the Edwards thing, and trying to pack for my trip...

Anyway...

This is an excellent parable, one that I've heard before...

That doesn't make it any less true, though...

Thank you!
