Poll question: My Dad and John Denver - Weird Coincidence.
John (born Deutschendorf) Denver was a distant cousin of mine, on my dad's side.

Our distant cousin died when his ultralight crashed.

My dad died when his ultralight crashed.

Do you think this means:

a. I should not fly an ultralight

b. I should quit being a guitarist like my cousin who inspired me

c. other

2. Stay away from experimental aircraft!
:P

That's cool that JD is a distant cousin. They were both doing what they loved and a lot of us don't even get that.

4. I don't know why they insist on calling it "experimental" aircraft.
It surely wasn't experimental to my dad.

But I want to fly, dammit! Please?

22. Oh, I don't hoard it. I usually use it up pretty quickly.
Especially on freeway flyovers. They're called 'flyovers' for a reason. Weeeeeeeee!

;)

5. Clearly the guitar is at fault
the ultralights were just a proximal cause... you have to go somehow

7. Those things are deathtraps! The ultralight that is
The world ALWAYS needs more musicians. And singers. And manzanita trees (I always liked those trees)

8. No ultralights. They sound freaky anyway.
But I barely get on a jet.

(heh, little play on words there)

Just imagine a 750 lb mosquito. Imagine the buzz, the whine. Then throw in a little lawn mower-type roar. You've got the idea now.

11. Fly the plane, strum the guitar, but don't write a song about Jacques Cousteau, or his boat.
I think that was the key. Steve Irwin was invincible until he got on a Cousteau boat. Coincidence? Hardly.

17. If you are happy flying and playing...then fly and play.
What's meant to be is meant to be, and you shouldn't stop yourself from enjoying life. I knew someone once who did that. I am sorry for it forever now. Be happy bertha

19. It means you should practice more.
That's what I tell my students.

The better you get, the more you have to practice.

20. If you enjoy the guitar, keep playing. If you want to fly and ultralight, by all means, do so.
Life is a gamble no matter what you do and you can't safeguard yourself against everything. Take necessary precautions and go for the gusto!
