Today's payday and nothing showed up in my checking account
direct deposit worked just fine last month... And I got my pay stub in the mail today so I know how much should have shown up.

My rent is officially late now and after spending thousands to move here, I'm trying to get bills caught up. It's likely that Verizon will turn off my phone as I PROMISED I'd pay the past due amount today. Both cars need fuel and I wanted to get some groceries.

Chase has no record of an inbound ACH and of course my former employer says the money was drafted out of his account.

I have $9.48 in my checking account.

3. My first call tomorrow morning would be to the WI Dept. of Labor.
Make your former employer prove it to them.

That, or if you have an attorney, have him or her make a little phone call to your former employer.

I know I keep saying this, but all of this is leading somewhere good.

I thought you had finally turned the corner. I didn't realize there would be a brick wall there. :(

At some point, it's got to come together for you. You're too good a person to be kept down.

I was just being a smartass. Being told that you're "not a good fit" is bad.

10. Yeah, really
but we get paid monthly and I have an entire month's check that should have been direct deposited today.

11. I'd call back and ask again--most companies give "live" checks to terminated employees.
It's possible that your check (and not direct deposit) is sitting on a desk in HR--somebody obviously fucked up. If they don't produce that money by first thing in the morning, then you should call your local labor commissioner immediately and ask for advice.

I'm so sorry to hear how this worked out. Hopefully one of the other companies that made an offer to you will still have a position open.

12. I've been exchanging emails and my stub says direct deposit
Chase said that they post ACH transfers in batches and that it might show up in the morning. No guarantee.

The firm was rather small and the owner does payroll.

19. here in Mass employers have 24 hours to pay a terminated
employee ALL due wages, salary and tips. I know it won't help you right now but if your ex-employer violated your state's law he could be liable for any overdraft fees you've incurred.

Best of luck, I've been there too!

22. Wisconsin gives an employer 6 days
just enough time for me to have my credit ruined with my landlord, my cell phone disconnected and overdraft charges from the bank. Not to mention, I can't buy food or gas.

The owner said the money for my DD was taken from his account on Wednesday. He's got to make it right. Today. :(

my car payment drafted and now I'm overdrawn. Can't buy gas, food or pay my now past-due rent. It's Friday and I am at the mercy of the boss who's not in the office today.

18. It's okay
it's the employer's responsibility anyway. I don't CARE that the money left his account. It never made it to mine and he must do the research to find out where it went and correct it. I have no information to do this myself.

Damn...

20. Is the Direct Deposit being "held" by your bank?
Is there any way the funds are in some kind of "holding pattern" at your bank? Have you checked on that?

then I'd catch a Brewer's game, rent a boat at Port Washington for a few hours, stop by to say "hi" to my dad, then head home...fully satisfied.

and said it will post tomorrow. I told the customer service rep who called that all the fees associated with the overdraft will disappear too.

I can't buy food or gas (or anything) tonight. Hopefully I can tomorrow.
