4. I heard her version of "More Than This" for the first time today...
I was not amused...What an awful cover version of a great song...

6. You mean the Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music song?
As much as I like Norah Jones, I can't imagine her singing this. It doesn't really fit her style.

On the other hand, I just saw Lost in Translation this weekend. Bill Murray sings this song karaoke-style and does a total shit job of it. But you know what? His singing that song, in that scene (and you'll have to see the movie), expresses EXACTLY how that song makes me feel. It was great.

8. Yes, the Roxy Music version...
She sang it in sort of a "soft jazz/lounge singer" style (jazz purists feel free to set me straight, but that's what it sounded like to me...) For me, the RM version is one of those rare songs which gives me goose bumps every time I listen to it, and it sounds especially good on the Avalon remaster. Hopefully she'll never cover "Just Another High" from Siren...

I haven't seen Lost In Translation yet but it sounds like I'd prefer Bill Murray's version to Norah's...

9. I didn't know there was a remaster of Avalon available
I'll have to look for it. I agree completely with your feelings about More Than This. IMHO, Avalon is one of the greatest albums ever.

5. I'll have to alert my menapausal mother
Norah is "jazz" to her. Kinda like Diana Krall. Blech.

7. Blech?
Say what you like-- Norah's first album still has enough good material on it to qualify as a kind of minor masterpiece. Krall et al cannot approach her restraint on this album.
An' yep, she shore is purdy.
