Man Calls 911 For Incorrect Subway Order

You can bet a Jacksonville, Florida man wishes he had just paid the five-bucks for a foot long at Subway.

Instead, he was charged with making a false 911 call.

Reginald Peterson ordered a Spicy Italian Sub with the works.

Sandwich artists put mayo on mustard on it, but no sauce. That put Peterson over the edge and he called 911 to complain.

He called a second time to complain officers weren't arriving fast enough.

Subway workers told police the 42-year-old became belligerent and yelled when they were fixing his order.

They locked him out of the store when he left to call police.

When officers arrived, they tried to calm Peterson and explain the proper use of 911. Those efforts failed, and he was arrested on a charge of making false 911 calls.

Can Florida disappear already? :(

1. I knew someone who worked as a 911 operator.

She could tell some stories of human stupidity that would have you writhing on the floor laughing one second and staring in open-mouthed disbelief the next. Two of my favorites involved a guy who called 911 because his pizza was late and another who called because he couldn't find his TV remote.

I don't know if there are any 911 operators on DU, but if there are, I'm guessing they won't find this story all that outlandish. Some folks seem to have got the idea that 911 is a sort of valet service.

9. I've seen it first hand....
Years ago, I worked in a bike shop- Mostly, I tried to stay in the assembly and repair end of the business, but every so often I got called to the sales floor. A few days prior to the incident in question, a woman and her upper-teenage son came in to buy some pedals he wanted for his BMX bike... These pedals, in fact:

Well, they showed up to return them one day when I was on the floor- I opened the box, and they were all beat to hell (obviously, they had been used). I politely said that our return policy as stated on the receipt did not allow for items that had been used in such a fashion. "Well, then maybe you'd rather pay my son's medical bills from when that pedal spun around and cut his leg all up???" she replied rather nastily. It went back and forth a few times, and I gave her the manufacturer's contact information so she could take it up with them, but she was adamant that I was going to refund her for the pedals. Finally she whipped out her phone and said she was calling the police on me. ( :wtf: )

The police arrive and basically tell her what I told her- that she should get an attorney contact the manufacturer if she believed there was a design flaw. But she also got a lecture about dialing 911 for non-emergencies, and that dis-satisfaction with a store didn't qualify as an emergency.
