Met with the surgeon today

Hi all,
I thought I was having a biopsy today but I was wrong. Today was just to consult with the surgeon. This whole thing has been such a nightmare.

So anyway,
My husband came with me and the doctor was very nice. He examined me and had a tough time finding the lump in my breast. I told him I had never noticed it, I was just in for a base line mammogram and all this showed up.

He said it was soft (I hope that is a good sign) he said it is about 1.4cm but there is irritated tissue surrounding it that he is also concerned about which may also be cancer. Making the whole thing about the size of a golf ball.

So he said I have to have an MRI and a Needle biopsy to figure out what I am facing and then we will take it from there.

He does think that if it is cancer we probably caught it early- which is good and he went over all of the treatment options so I am not as much in a panic as I was but I do pray with all my heart it isn't cancer.

I expect to hear today at some point when the biopsy and mri will be and then after that it will be about 10 days before the results are back. So I have about two or three weeks of hell left before if I know I will be living there for a while!

I'm glad that your doctor thinks, if it is cancer, you caught it early. I can just imagine how hard it's going to be for you waiting to get the results. Keep talking to us, OK?

4. This is very good news. His indication that it is early

is very important. I have many friends who are survivors of breast cancer that was caught early.

hopefully it's nothing more than a cyst but even if it is something more dire it sounds like you got it early and that's always good. :hug: I imagine you'll be on pins and needles waiting for the results, wish there was something we could to to make the results come back sooner or reassure you in the meantime.

The waiting must be very frustrating. If they schedule the biopsy too far in the future for your comfort, make a scene. Sometimes they'll move it up. :hug: :hug: I'm sorry you're scared but I guess it would be unusual if you weren't.

I've had two breast lumps removed - both were benign thank the gods, But the waiting is nerve wracking. Hope yours is nothing, too.
