How did you find DU?

I found it by accident. I was googling something and a DU article came up as a search result. I then checked out the site and found the forum.

13. Shortly after September 11, 2001

I halfway thought I was going insane because of the complete echo chamber effect of mainstream media, both on the Internet and television/radio/newspaper. I began actively searching for liberal sites. I even ended up making an IE Favorites folder called Left-Leaning News, or words to that effect. And within a couple of days of reading everything I could find, I had run into DU references 3 or 4 times on different sites. I wish I could recall which sites those were, but I don't. I had just started to perceive that the mainstream media, the trustworthy, dispassionate, even-handed media was not what it claimed to be. I went looking for an alternative that was credible, and here I am.

aoj is run by tom morello (formerly from RATM and currenlty of Audioslave) and Serj Tankinin (system of a down) nonprofit organization supporting peace and social justice wherever they can. (they marched in the iraq war protests last year, among several others)

thier message board is a complete battlezone though, no moderators to kick out the freepin idiots. i like it here, more laid back.

I can't remember it, but I was searching for some kind of Democratic link out of the conservativ hell I was living in.

I'd been at my father's house in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania for two weeks in the summer of 2002. Nothing but Limbaugh and O'Reilly on EVERYDAY. I had gotten a chance to go to a library, by myself, in Carlilse while my step-mother was with my step-sister at her ballet. Desperate, I Googled that fatefull search and bam, I was in heaven. Though I didn't join the forum until 2003, I read every article on DU, every day. It saved me from going insane.

37. Lynn Samuels radio show

on WABC, right-wing talk radio in NYC-- alas, she was the lone liberal and has long since been fired.

Someone very articulate called in and echoed all my thoughts about the bush administration, and more--he mentioned DU, I got on and have never left.

Still want to know-- who was that DUer???
