Poll question: The Dark Knight: A great movie, or the greatest movie?
Edited on Sun Aug-03-08 08:00 PM by charlie and algernon
It's still number 1 on Internet Movie database's top 250 movies of all time. It's 3 week stint at the top is the longest stint other than the Godfather for a looooooong time. Shawshank Redemption spent a short time at number 1, but it's been all Godfather for years, now it's The Dark Knight.

1. Great movie. Great, great, great, great movie.
Probably the best movie I've ever seen in my life. Just saw it for the third time today, and I'll see it at least a couple more times.

2. I haven't seen all the movies that are at the top of the 'greatest' list, so I can't say for sure
but it was damn good.

4. I doubt the Godfather has most of its big fans voting on Internet sites
It's a different era, of course it's going to be skewed.

Great movie, not perfect by any means.

6. One of the VERY few movies that left me breathless.
I thought it was an amazing film, and I hope to GOD the Academy doesn't stiff it because it's a genre movie (it well transcended the average comic book movie, in my opinion.)

A very very very great movie. :7

11. I liked it but...
Edited on Mon Aug-04-08 08:02 AM by Steerpike1
The latest "Dark Knight" is nowhere near one of the greatest movies of all time. I liked Iron Man, Hellboy and The Mummy better for this years comic book adaptions. Batman comes in a strong 4th for this years comic book flicks. I will admit I am probably in the minority.

18. it had very little special effects
they actually blew up that building, it was an old candy factory. The only true CGI scene was when Joker falls off the building. They used hydraulics to flip the truck, not CGI.

13. Fan boys are voting Godfather a 1 and TDK a 10
they did the same thing with LOTR: Return of the King

It is lame, and will eventually even back out.

16. yeah, a war has broken out over there
the fans of the top three movies, TDK, Shawshank, and Godfather have broken into different camps and are f*cking with the other movies' ranking. Supposedly there are message board postings advocating people create multiple accounts to vote as often as possible. That still doesn't detract from the fact that nearly everyone who has seen TDK thinks it's a really great movie.

19. Hopefully I'm down to about 35 hours from seeing it
if Lufthansa cancels another flight, I will take a boat to Germany to beat someones ass.

I have heard nothing but good things. And the few who do say they dislike it are so small in number it is safe to assume they are being contrarian more than anything.

20. it being a genre movie will automatically turn people off
Comic book movies and crime movies all have their detractors and no matter how good a movie is, people will hate it just because they don't like that genre. That's one reason it's so hard to make a comprehensive list of the greatest movies because no one will ever agree with all the choices.

I hope your travel arrangements work out, I hate being stranded in an airport.

14. A really great movie although
I liked the story in Batman Begins better. I thought TDK was great, filled with awesome actions scenes and a brilliant performance by the late, great Heath Ledger. Ledger owned the movie, and gave one of films greatest performances.
