THE PLATYPUS. Its duck bill and otter body indicates an evolutionary offshoot from water fowl and amphibious mammals. They also look fucking goofy.

4. No, it's not an offshoot from water fowl.

Form follows function - it uses it's mouth the same way a waterfowl would, and thus they both evolved similar structures, but not due to any relation. Similarly, bats didn't evolve from birds, and whales didn't evolve from fish (well, not directly).
