What's the weirdest thing you have ever seen on vacation? (pictures)
Last year I saw a girl on the beach in California chasing a boy and hitting him with an empty WalMart sack. That was odd.

But what I saw today beats that. We are in Michigan. We stopped at a beautiful little park today that overlooks a river. There's a great view from this park of a gorgeous old bridge over this river.

As we pulled in and parked, two girls pulled in next to us and got out and went over to the deck overlooking the river and took off their shirts and shorts. Looked like they were going to lay out and tan.

But no.

One of them jumped in the water, got out and took out a bottle of what I assumed was sunscreen. But she poured it on her head and worked up a good lather.

Then she lathered up her legs and shaved.

And she got up on the railing and shaved her underarms.

Then she jumped in and rinsed off.

She handed her friend the bottle and her friend did the same thing.

So that's the weirdest thing I have ever seen on vacation. How about you? Did you take pictures? :)

3. My parents had bought an old cabin on lake Superior in northern(most) Mich.
It had a toilet and running water provided by a rusty old pipe that fed directly from the lake. We couldn't drink the water and there was no shower or bath. So for a month every summer I bathed in the lake.

There was one over the air TV station (they played nbc some nights and cbs other nights), only a few usable radio stations and no phone.

I hated going there s a child but these days I wish we still had that little shack. I could use the seclusion and scenery. Copper harbor in the summer was a fine place to be. Oh well.

Have fun on the rest of your trip.

:)

Still no radio here. One NPR station but the signal is weak where we are staying.

But it is sure beautiful here.

17. A week ago I saw a snake with a trout in it's mouth.
The snake was tiny. It was the strangest thing, I thought it was an eel at first, then later that day I saw a Timber Rattler crossing the Parkway. First time ever seeing one of those. It was beautiful.

there used to be a 666 but they changed it to 191 - it runs north and south through eastern AZ and you can sure see tarantulas on it - at least this time of year in my area - and snakes and army worms and horse lubbers and rattle snakes and toads ... lots of road kill too

The Porcupine Mountains were MrG's favorite place on earth. He and his cousin (the one I've got the other thread going on) would go, once a summer, hiking and camping up there. We were going to take BabyG this summer. It is beautiful country up there. You picked the right part of Michigan to visit.

You drive forever and see only trees.

But it is also sad to see so much poverty. Tons of cars parked on the side of the road for sale. Also jet skis and snowmobiles and campers and boats.

We also have seen 3 or 4 Obama signs :)

22. Yes it is. The very first time they went, they went to an army surplus
store and bought tons of K rations and then got beer. They loaded up their packs, went about a mile and then sat down and had a feast to get rid of half of it because it was too heavy to carry. There is a lot of poverty up in the UP. Some of the saddest stories I've ever heard come from up there. They should have let Wisconsin have. They're all Packer fans anyway. ;)

14. We were in Texas goofing off for the summer.
It was 115 and humid. My friends went into a garage to get chips and drinks. I sat in the car with the air conditioner on. There was a beat up old Chevy Suburban next to us. The back door opens, first a hand, then the rest of the guy slides out and he lands on the top of his head, falls over and lays there. He then began to piss himself, the stream running down the inclined pavement. I look up and there is cop with one of those mountie looking hats, with the strap on the back of his head, and aviator shades on watching this guy. The cop looks up at me,looks at the drunk, looks at me,then drives off.

Was walking in shallow water on the beach in FL and I came within a foot or 2 of him and we saw each at the same time and both of us bolted in opposite directions!

Also saw a dead baby shark on the beach.

Saw this a couple of weeks back on Assateague Island. The island has wild ponies, and this birds sit on their backs and eat flies and other bugs that bother the ponies. One of those symbiotic relationship thingies.

I tried to get a picture, but the crane jumped to the ground and made it rather ordinary.

We roll in, evacuating Hurricane Frances. We get to the main crossroads, and there's a triangular median in the middle. A cop car is parked, with cops in it. Their bags and cups from a burger place are sitting on the trunk of the car. I kept thinking, all these people from all over, and they have to make southerners look like stupid hicks. I was embarrassed, that really bothered me.

50. I have been in Nigeria all summer
safe to say, my top 10 strangest things I have seen is now full of new stuff. The weirdest and most widespread thing I have noticed is how many people "ease" themselves by the roadway. And not just #1, if they need to go #2 by God they do that too.

People stack about 25 into VW microbuses here, once stuck in a traffic jam I saw two people hop out of one and this lady started loosening her belt and as soon as she was off the roadway she squatted down and started using the restroom. While she was doing it traffic started moving so she had to go catch back up to her ride.

Sorry no pics.

58. I have no picture for this but...
IN Bangkok, in one a guest house frequented by Peace Corps Volunteers, we were sitting in the cafe and it started the torrential downpour. This was common during this time of year. To understand monsoon rains, you really have to see it. 1 second outside and you are DRENCHED. It's also hot and sticky at the same time. Roads that never flood, are flooded, and the monsoon may or may not go away within 5 minutes of starting up. You just can't predict these guys.

Anyway, this German (oh Lord, why are they always GERMAN???) Tourist strips naked and goes out into the streets, and proceeds to take a shower. Everyone is looking at him and his gargantuan cock. I'm sorry, seeing a 12 inch cock on a Seventysomething is something you just can't NOT see. When he's done, he goes inside and drys off.

Sure, I could tell you much more tragic weird stories, but why?

This one is good enough :)
